The Institute for Engineering in Medicine is excited to announce our request for proposals for the FY17 IEM Seed Funding Program. This year we are accepting applications for both IEM Group Grants and IEM Exploratory Grants. All programs will have a submission deadline of Friday, November 4th, 2016 at 9:00 AM. IEM members are encouraged to discuss with others during the annual retreat to develop collaborative proposals.
The IEM Group Program Grant provides up to $75,000 in funds to develop major multidisciplinary collaborative research programs from a group of investigators of the Academic Health Center (AHC) and College of Science and Engineering (CSE). These programs are intended to enhance positions to seek program/center/group external funding, as well as create major contributions in significant medical and health research using engineering approaches.
The IEM Exploratory Grant Program provides up to $35,000 in funds to support interdisciplinary research projects exploring novel ideas relating to medical and engineering research. Proposals should involve fundamental or translational science, with a specific hypothesis or deliverable that can produce pilot data to secure external funding or explore a novel idea which may lead to breakthrough in research. Usually aimed for an individual faculty from AHC/CSE with 1-2 co-investigator(s) from CSE/AHC.
All members of IEM are encouraged to apply. If you or one of the collaborators within your group are not currently a member of IEM, you may still apply together with an application for IEM membership. Additional information on becoming a member can be found through the following links:
